Starry Night and Day Dream
16'-0" w by 8'-0"
This historic church building is being transformed into a residence and studio. The stained glass of Starry Night and Daydream will soon inhabit its west-facing windows above the main entrance. Surrounded by a transparent ground of German mouthblown glasses, the windows’ elusive white opal and opak glasses, dichroic glass, and crystal prisms will constantly morph and change as the hours, days and seasons wheel past. The white glass not only transmits light (as does the colorful, transparent glass background), it also reflects light, thereby animating the window throughout the day and night, whether viewed from inside or out. White glass can also serve as a potential projection screen for the owners, whose Lightware Labs creates incredible lightscapes of their own with 3D projection mapping.
Materials: German mouthblown glass; dichroic glass, crystal prisms, roundel, lead, solder.
