About ASG

I spiraled into my career circuitously via several campuses while studying science and biology, philosophy and religion, landscape architecture, fine arts and, finally, stained glass. Here’s an overview of that journey.

The most gratifying (and humbling) part of making art, is receiving praise from others. The following unsolicited comments also add depth and perspective about the process of making stained glass with Jeff Smith and ASG.

Jeff Smith was part of the groundbreaking stained glass program at Louisiana State University and on two occasions studied with leading German stained glass artists. He founded Architectural Stained Glass, Inc. in 1977. Smith’s critically acclaimed stained glass is found from Alaska to Florida and from New Hampshire to Hawaii. Past awards include four AIA/IFRAA “International Design Arts Awards” and two Corning Museum “New Glass Review Awards”.

“Stained Glass Window”. . . A straightforward term . . . Seems to pretty much say it all, right? Well, not quite. At least not to me.
