After studying the Metcalf’s landscape planting plan, “Hanging Crab Claw” (Heliconia rostrata) with its striking sculptural flowers caught my eye. This powder room window is an abstract, close-up of a bloom – sort of a cross-pollination between Rousseau and O’Keefe.Privacy is achieved with “white” opal glasses. Deep reds along with ambers and greens provide transparent relief that pierce the white canvas with glimpses to the sky and landscape. The transparency is strategically located in the upper areas for privacy. German hand-pressed, fire-polished lenses add sparkling detail. Opal amber German glass was selected specifically to match glass wall sconces.

Materials: German and French opal and transparent glass, fire-polished lenses, lead and solder. Installed behind tempered glass.
